Last Friday, we prepared for a trip that sounded like a bad idea, but as it turns out.. bad ideas make great stories. Not only a great story, but a great time with great people. Three of us left San Diego Friday night at around 11:00pm and headed North bound to Norcal for the First Annual Spreckels BMX Race, Show, and Swap. We actually got there before any of the local folks, hahahaha. After set up, We were able to get some media coverage from the local news group out there. I was pretty damn close to picking up what I was out there for, Vector Forks! Turns out, they were already sold to someone who was going to be there to check them out. I was hoping he wouldn’t want them because I had second dibs on them. hahah. All good though, the search continues. We were not prepared for the weather there, it was super hot and dry.
There were plenty of rad old school BMX bikes there and even an old school BMX race. Saw an old school KOS Cruiser and a retro or “tribute” KOS cruiser on the track racing as well as a replica bike from the movie “RAD”. I was pretty jealous of the folks that were racing. We wanted to get out there on the track too, but we didn’t have enough room in the whip to bring our race bikes. hopefully next year, we can bring them along for fun on the track. Right after the show, we immediately packed up and headed back to San Diego. Got home around 1:00am and knocked out. Boy, that was a crazy trip as we were constantly on the move. Thanks to Leo for driving and Barry for keeping us entertained. “Brotherhood”
Hope everyone enjoyed the day as much as we did. The hospitality was great and we enjoyed every minute of it all. Congrats to the winners of the bike show, the plaques looked pretty nice. I forgot to take a picture of them, it was too hot to get out of the shade. It was definitely a pleasure meeting everyone and sharing. Until next time folks! Thanks for everything!
Enjoy the pictures. ***** ADDITIONAL PHOTOS HERE *****
