When We Ride….. | Outsider Music | MAKA

If you want to do yourself a favor, you definitely need to download our new anthem that was recently put together by MAKA and his crew called “Outsider Music“.  MAKA is a hip-hop artist from San Diego, but is currently stationed in Washington. Being away from San Diego does not stop him from creating new music and keeping his talents sharp. This guy is one of the most passionate artists I have seen or heard and is always honing his craft without distractions. Focus is the key and perfection is the goal. We always have something to work towards and one day, MAKA will get it. I promise you.

Until then, Check his SOUNDCLOUD out for free music or download his newest release A FOUR LETTER WORD from iTUNES. Get familiar with MAKA and “Feel Good” like the late 90′s all over again.

Follow him on TWITTER.

Ikonix BMX | Bob Haro

Bob Haro Celebrates 30 Years of BMX with IKONIX Limited Edition Freestyle Bike
Cardiff-by-the-Sea, CA, (March 30, 2012) – Bob Haro, known as the “Father of Freestyle”, is
paying tribute to the sport he pioneered with his new IKONIX limited edition 30th Anniversary
BMX Freestyle bike. Drawing on a legacy of design and performance, these bikes will be the
ultimate tribute to thirty years of BMX freestyle innovation and style with only 540 premium-crafted
bikes being produced for release in summer 2012.

“2012 marks three decades since I created the first bike for freestyle riding. I’m still a BMXer at
heart, so I am proud and amazed by where other riders have taken it over the years,” said Bob
Haro. “From the days of Eddie Fiola and Mat Hoffman to current phenoms like Dennis Enarson
and Nigel Sylvester, what an incredible experience to see what was once considered a rogue
sport when I was a kid now be embraced as a legitimate and exhilarating sport by the X Games,
Dew Tour, and millions of riders and fans around the world.”

Since his early days in BMX, Bob Haro has been naturally drawn to the action sports lifestyle as a
rider, designer, and artist. Whether leading the first freestyle brand or as a stunt rider in the now
infamous BMX chase scene in Steven Spielberg’s production of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Bob
has inspired millions to ride everyday and explore the next level of possible. As an artist and
designer, Bob’s influence is still seen with such work as collaborations with Nike to design the
uniforms for the US Olympic BMX racing teams, and his artwork featured in various projects and
exhibitions.

Cogoo | Turntable Rider |BMX

After a bunch of my friends sent this too me, I was able to finally watch the video and was very impressed. BMX mashes up with technology and the outcome: DJ Flatland on the 1′s and 2′s. hahaha. It is very interesting how technology is able to fuse these two cultures together. Can you image a local dive bar with a dance floor, but it’s not really a dance floor…it’s space for the DJ to ride and create music at the same time! WHOA!

Check out what Cogoo from Japan created and be amazed!

UCI Supercross 2012 | Olympic Training Center | Re-cap

The weekend came, I saw, and of course I conquered. I actually missed the time trials on Friday, but did NOT miss the actual Elite BMX races on Saturday. Once again, I was privileged enough to be able to attend the races and was treated as a VIP guest with the help of my SUPERB neighbors! Thank you to the King’s one again. Being in this prime location enabled me to rub elbows with the likes of Mike King, Eddy King, Bob Haro, and Todd Lyons to name a few. Great to see you guys again and it was a pleasure meeting new folks as well. This year, we were treated to some tacos, lobster, dessert, and of course BEER! hahaha. I wasn’t as drunk as I thought I would be since I was all over the place snapping pictures.

Team USA was killing it throughout the day for both the Men’s and Women’s Elite. Shout outs go to Day, Robinson, Fields, Herman, Sharrah, and Long. Thanks for repping USA so well.  Can’t forget the ladies that represented Team USA  Martin, Crain, Post, and Geving. Conner Fields took first in the Men’s Elite and broke his last record during time trials. This guy is my pick for GOLD in the London Olympics 2012. I cant wait. Herman took third and of course did an amazing job. Although Team USA did not take any podium spots in the Women’s Elite, I am still proud of them!!

With a couple months to prepare for London, I was also around to check out the Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the London Olympics 2012 replica track currently being built at the Olympic Training Center and almost compelte. Trust me when I say that this track is gnarly. Everything is bigger and badder! I can’t wait until it is done to see the riders practice on it. The mayor or Chula Vista was also in the house, well…. outside actually. hahaha.

I went back on Sunday to watch one of my riders during the So Cal Nationals. Shout out to Dawson Terry for  making finals and taking home a trophy! Can’t wait for the new jersey. Factory Team Outsiders representing!!

Enjoy the pictures players.

UCI Supercross World Cup 2012 | Olympic Training Center

Looks like it’s that time of year again. This weekend, The Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista will once again play host to the First Round of the Supercross World Cup as well as the BMX So Cal Nationals. With the sport of BMX making it’s second appearance at the London Olympics this year, the highest power ranked male and female athletes will earn and automatic spot on the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team.

If you have time and spot me at the event, please make sure to stop me to say hi. I’ll be roaming around taking photos of the event for the re-cap on this blog.

A big special thank you to Mike and Carrie King for inviting us again to this rippin’ event full of excitement and entertainment. Good luck to all the elite athletes and my newest rider Dawson BigD out of Lancaster, California. .

Details of the event are on the photo below:

5 & A Dime | Targa Trophy Apparel Retail Launch

5 & A Dime and Targa Trophy teamed up to bring San Diego the exclusive launch of their apparel last night in downtown. I needed a roll dog, so I decided to bring my favorite player in the world! Trust me, he had the female’s attention all night! hahaha.

There were some interesting cars there and some familiar ones as well with familiar faces. once again, I was all caught up with chit-chatting with the familiar and rubbing elbows with the un-familiar, that I forgot to take pictures or at least MORE pictures. As always, the events at 5 & A Dime are on point and I believe you should come out and check them out if you have a chance. Targa Trophy seems very interesting and you will probably catch me more when they roll through town again.

Enjoy the pictures.

4130 BMX Club | St Patty’s BMX Bash | Re-cap

Last Friday, I made the adventure out to Simi Valley to visit and support The 4130 BMX Club/Brother’s Bike Company’s  St. Patty’s BMX Bash at Skate Lab. That was a mega far trip out past Los Angeles. It was well worth it though as I was able to watch some incredible BMX riders at the venue. The Skate Lab is an actual skateboard museum with tons of old school skateboards from the early 60′s and on. Not to mention, they also had memorabilia from the early era. This place was just bonkers and full of history!! Unfortunately, my camera died on me while I was there taking pictures so I resorted to my back up Blackberry phone for later pictures. I was able to get some goods into the grand prize raffle drawing and give a few hats out to some of the contest winners including Chris Hughes who was very exciting to watch rip the place up. This kid is one to watch for sure! I had a great time, but was not looking forward to the journey back to San Diego. hahaha. Thanks to 4130 BMX Club and Brothers Bike Co. for inviting me to the successful event and allowing Outsiders BMX to take part in their annual event. Congrats to all that participated and all the winners! Until next year players!

Big things coming……
